Romance: “Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour” by Morgan Matson
- This is Matson’s first novel. I read it for the first time around fours years ago, but I still obsess over it. It includes all things that a good summer novel needs: a road trip, sickly-sweet romance and the perfect amount of cliche!
Mystery: “We Were Liars” by E. Lockhart
- This book has a really distinct writing style that people either love or hate. It really worked for me and I was unable to put this book down whenever I read it. It was a quick read that held a lot of substance for me.
Sci Fi: “A Living Nightmare” (#1 in the Cirque Du Freak Series) by Darren Shan
- This is the first book in one of my all-time favorite book series. It tells the story of sacrifice, humanity, and the supernatural. Each book in the series becomes stronger and more intense. This fast paced novel will surely have you emotionally connected to the characters and plot.
Comedy: “The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck” by Sarah Knight
- I haven’t read this book yet, but I watched her Ted Talk online and absolutely fell in love with her and her philosophies. Learning how to not give a flip over unimportant things this summer could really help in the rest of life!
